The event’s focus was on highlighting the advantages of investing in Bulgarian agriculture and food industry. Prepared within the framework of IBA’s project “Promoting the Benefits of Investing in Bulgaria,” this is the forth such tour as part of the “Journalistic Tours on Various Sectoral Issues.” Envoys representing global media outlets (Financial Times, Kommersant, Reuters, Asahi, Yonhap, etc.) from the United Kingdom, Russia, South Korea, Japan, Italy and EU member states were invited to take part and become familiar with the current business climate in the country and the competitive advantages offered by the local industry.

 

The tour lasted 3 days and began with a meeting with IBA Executive Director, Mr. Borislav Stefanov, who stressed Bulgaria's competitive advantages over other countries in the region. Mr. Konstantin Lambrev, chairman of the Union of the Fruit and Vegetables Producers in Bulgaria, gave a brief overview of agriculture and the food industry sectors’ current state. Guests also had the opportunity to meet with the Bulgarian Minister of Economy, Energy and Tourism, Delian Dobrev and the Minister of Agriculture and Food, Miroslav Naydenov. Also during the tour, participants visited leading Bulgarian and foreign companies in the respective sectors.
